Zigwheels PH monthly wrap-up: May 2025

MANILA: May 2025 has proven to be quite a busy month for the automotive industry. Within the past four weeks, more than a handful of locally available brands have launched a total of 19 new vehicles. Two are updated motorcycles, three are all-new light commercial vehicles, while the rest are passenger cars. 

And, of course, the Philippine market also saw numerous dealership openings and other significant events.

There’s a lot to go through, so, without further ado, here is the Zigwheels Philippines wrap-up for May 2025. 

Local launches

HARI Cab, Mighty E-CV, Country E-CV

Hariphil Asia Resources Incorporated (HARI) has launched the all-new HARI Cab - a light commercial vehicle assembled locally. It enters the market with a price ranging from P1.797 million to P2.362 million.

Plus, HARI also rolled out the all-new Mighty and Country E-CV (electrified commercial vehicle) models. The Hyundai Mighty light-duty truck can produce up to 160.7 hp and 320 Nm of torque, while the Country minibus can dish out 147.9 hp and 395 Nm of torque. Both also feature fast direct-current charging. 

Updated Yamaha XMAX, Mio Gravis

Yamaha Motor Philippines has unveiled the latest iteration of the XMAX. Retailing at P311,000, it offers prospective buyers new features, and a liquid-cooled, four-stroke 292-cubic-centimeter engine mated to a V-belt automatic transmission. 

At maximum, the said mill has the following output figures:

Maximum power output	28 horsepower (hp)
Peak torque	29 Newton-meters (Nm)

Also in May, the motorcycle brand rolled out the updated Mio Gravis, which received two new colors: Matte Brown and Dark Gray. At launch, the latest version of the Mio Gravis retails at P84,900.

Ford Everest Sport, Ranger Sport SE, Ranger XL+

Ford Philippines has brought in new Special Edition trims for the Everest Sport and Ranger Sport. The dressed-up sport utility vehicle (SUV) retails at P2.194 million, whereas the new pickup truck trim is priced at P1.529 million.

Additionally, the company also launched the Ranger XL+. It builds upon the XL trim with additional equipment, including a bed liner, side steps, and retractable cup holders. Pricing for the Ford Ranger XL+ is set at P1.279 million. 

Mercedes-Benz GLC 350e PHEV, E-Class 350e PHEV

Mercedes-Benz Philippines has launched the E-Class plug-in hybrid (PHEV) and the GLC PHEV. Both are touted to offer performance and luxury, mixed with sustainable mobility. 

The Mercedes-Benz E-Class 350e PHEV retails at P5.49 million, while the GLC 350e PHEV is priced at P4.89 million.

All-new Honda PCX160

Honda Philippines Incorporated (HPI) officially launched the next-generation PCX160. It has a price ranging from P134,400-P154,900, and it boasts new connectivity and safety features.

Zeekr 009

Zeekr Philippines, under the distributorship of the Autohub Group, has brought in the all-new 009 all-electric multi-purpose vehicle. The luxury electric vehicle (EV) boasts a maximum cruising range of 702 kilometers (km), and it can produce up to 777 horsepower.

Land Rover Range Rover Sport SV Edition Two, Defender Octa

Inchcape Philippines, the official local distributor of Land Rover, has rolled out the all-new Range Rover Sport SV Edition Two and the Defender Octa. Both represent the pinnacle of their respective nameplates in terms of power and luxury.

Updated Hyundai Creta

Hyundai has launched the latest version of the Creta for the Philippine market. It now has an N-Line variant that boasts a 1.5-liter turbocharged mill with a maximum output of 158 hp and 253 Nm of torque.

Hongqi EH7, E-HS7

EVOxTerra, the official distributor of Hongqi cars in the Philippines, has started the selling period for the EH7 and E-HS7 models. Pricing for the Hongqi EH7 starts at P2.28 million, while the Hongqi E-HS7 starts at P2.58 million.

Aito M9

QSJ Motors Philippines Incorporated has introduced the initial batch of Aito M9 units to the local market. The luxury model commands a price ranging from P5.757-P6.557 million, and it offers a powertrain capable of outputting 484 hp and 675 Nm of torque.

Lynk & Co 06 Origin SE

Lynk & Co Philippines, under the management of United Asia Automotive Group Incorporated, launches the Origin SE as the 06’s new entry-level trim. At launch, the said variant retails at P1.099 million.

Upcoming local cars

Inchcape Philippines, the distributor of Mercedes-Benz for the local market, is gearing up to launch the G-Class G580 electric vehicle and two other PHEV models soon. Zigwheels Philippines confirmed the aforementioned through an interview with Mercedes-Benz Philippines General Manager Maricar Parco.

At the launch of the Zeekr 09 all-electric MPV, Autohub Group also previewed the 7X electric vehicle. The company has not released any details about its Philippine-spec version as of yet, but it will likely compete against the locally available Tesla Model Y.

Meanwhile, Morris Garages (MG) Philippines is set to introduce the electrified version of the ZS next month. To note, the said model was previewed at the 2025 Manila International Auto Show, and it is propelled by a 1.5-liter hybrid mill with the following output figures:

Maximum output (in hp)	193.3
Peak torque	250 Nm

Mitsubishi Motors Philippines Corporation, on the other hand, will soon launch a new van model. For now, the company has not shared any details, but it is likely an updated version of the L300 or the Delica. 

Global launches

Aston Martin DBX S

Aston Martin has debuted the all-new DBX S - a beefed-up trim of the DBX 707 sport utility vehicle model. 

At maximum, it can generate up to 717 hp and 900 Nm of torque. Plus, it received a number of powertrain technologies from the Aston Martin Valhalla supercar.

Next-gen Jeep Compass

The next-generation version of the Jeep Compass was unveiled in the United States, and it is now available with an all-electric, mild-hybrid, or PHEV powertrain.

GWM Tank 500 HEV

Great Wall Motor (GWM) has unveiled the Tank 500 HEV at the Malaysia Auto Show 2025. It can produce up to 341 hp, and it boasts a wealth of onboard tech features and creature comforts.

All-new Toyota RAV4

Toyota has revealed the sixth-generation RAV4. It will be sold in Japan by the end of 2025, and it comes with a bolstered array of safety features, as well as a new GR Sport variant.

Updated Mitsubishi Xpander, Xpander Cross

Mitsubishi has launched updated versions of the Xpander and Xpander Cross in Indonesia. The two models received revised exterior designs and an improved lineup of interior features. The Xpander likewise received the brand’s Active Yaw Control System.

BYD Cavite

BYD Cars Philippines has inaugurated its very first dealership in Cavite. It features a seven-car showroom and 10 working bays with eight car lifters.

Suzuki Panglao 3S shop, Suzuki Santa Rosa

Suzuki Philippines Incorporated (SPH), together with DES Strong Motors Incorporated, has opened a new 3S (sales, services, spare parts) shop in Panglao Island, Bohol. 

The company likewise inaugurated a new outlet in Santa Rosa. It is managed by MG Gateway Mantrade Corporation, and it boasts a six-bay service area and a four-car showroom. 

Omoda, Jaecoo Tagum City

Omoda and Jaecoo have opened their first-ever dealership in Mindanao. It is located in Tagum City, and it is operated by Carlux Premium Holdings OPC.

2025 Auto Focus Summer Test Drive

Sunshine Television has successfully conducted the 2025 Auto Focus Summer Test Drive event on May 8-11 at the SM Mall of Asia Open Grounds. It featured a multitude of car brands and was attended by numerous would-be car buyers.

GWM PH has surpassed its April 2025 sales target by 125 percent, which the company’s management said is a testament to the growing trust and excitement among Filipino customers. Globally, meanwhile, the brand has sold over 100,000 units in the same month.

2025 Toyota GR PH Cup leg 2 saw 12k attendees

The second leg of the Toyota Gazoo Racing (TGR) Philippine Cup, which was held last May 23-25 in Villar City, saw more than 12,000 attendees. At the said event, crowds saw hot racing action on a 2.4-kilometer-long street circuit.

CAMPI-TMA April 2025 sales report, new members

The Chamber of Automotive Manufacturers of the Philippines, Incorporated (CAMPI) and the Truck Manufacturers Association (TMA) jointly sold 33,580 vehicles in April 2025 alone. The aforementioned is 16.7 percent lower compared to the group’s sales performance last month (March 2025).

In addition to its sales report, CAMPI now has 27 members. The latest to join its ranks include BAIC, Lynk & Co, Tesla, and Vinfast. 

Honda PH new president

Honda Philippines Incorporated’s new president is Takeshi Kobayashi. He replaces Sayaka Arai, who has led the Japanese marque’s local arm since 2023.
